4 And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them, 2 greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3 And they arrested them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. 4 But many of those who had heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.
This is the reality of any ministry that is SIGNIFICANT: as you start to move closer to Christ and spread HIS Word Satan will oppress you. We will see this rinse and repeat cycle over and over again throughout Acts. The disciples will offer salvation, many will choose (sometimes none do) and then someone or some group will rise up and be livid that they are preaching. We must know this is TRUTH!!! As we walk through life and seek to be more intentional with our mission focus we will, without a doubt, experience increased oppression. We must not grow weary due to the obstructions setup by Satan, instead use those for affirmation that the Spirit is moving. We are on a battlefield. As such, when we press forward the enemy presses back.
God keep me from growing weary when Satan comes against me. Help me to not be discouraged and give up. Instead, invigorate me with even more passion as I encounter oppression. Strengthen me, give me sustainability, and guide me. Amen.
Many Christians become discouraged and give up when things get hard. They talk like God is guiding them… when it’s likely just enemy attacks. Encourage someone you know that is struggling. Tell them that “We are on a battlefield. As such, when we press forward the enemy presses back!”
