15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
I wonder if verse 15 can be said of you. I also wonder if you believe verse 16 could be said of you. Or when people think of you do they think of your job? Do they bring up something else about you? When you think of others is it about their relationship with God? Do you give thanks for others and pray about them (even when they don’t ask you to)?
Look around, does America and it’s “church” look Biblical? Do you even know what a Biblical church should look like? Can you spot the things that we have pulled in from Catholicism and what the church looked like before the reformation?
Who do you blame for your lack of knowledge? Who do you blame for your lack of desire? Who should you blame for your lack of knowledge or desire.
Romans 10:9 ESV Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. This is true… but so is this:
Hebrews 12:6 ESV For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and chastises every son whom De receives.”
You (hopefully) know you’re saved. We’ve hammered on this for weeks in our sermons and also in the devotions. However, you are also commanded to be obedient and though your lack of obedience may not remove your salvation, it will bring you discipline. We know God is loving and faithful to His Word so you ARE experiencing judgement and discipline if you are not being obedient. Get into God’s Word and take ownership of your walk with Him.
Stop being comfortable where you are, looking at your disobedience and counting on God’s mercy. His mercy is in relation to your salvation but as a loving Father He WILL discipline you, and has likely been doing so. The American Church (not talking about Covid here) is experiencing judgement because they have walked consistently in disobedience to the Lord.
Begin to cry out and petition that God strip you of all your desires other than Him. Ask Him to help you walk in truth and see the things you need to be doing, or not doing. Ask Him for a desire to put Him as #1 in your life. Ask Him to give you a passion to read.
Stop doing things because you’ve always done them or because your “heart wants to.” Instead look at the Bible and change your life!! There is a power in the Holy Spirit that can help you and change everything about you… but you will totally miss the power if you do not ask for it.
