Ephesians 6:1-3

Petition for God to reveal new truth to you.

Ephesians 6

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

Our children are called to obey us, learn from us, adhere to what we are teaching. Are we guiding them in the Word? Are we investing in the everlasting thread of hope and love that God has handed down over generations? We will not see revival in our family, city, and nation WITHOUT pouring these truths over our kids. We must invest now in the future preachers, worshipers, teachers, helpers, and deacons of our church!

With this in mind we MUST be pouring in WITH the Word. Otherwise we are only teaching morality and they will not grow into the potential they have. According to 1 Corinthians 12 we have all been given a gift or talent from the Spirit. We all have a role to play. If we are not faithful in teaching our children these truths they will enter the American mindset that money, education, and prestige are the most important things in life. That is how the next verse is true:

2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

Children who are taught what the Lord says will, in fact, experience things going well with them and ENJOYING a long life. Otherwise their minds are perverted from the truth and they will find no joy in life. If we are not teaching our Kids the foundational truth of hope in God’s Word we are not loving them. We are allowing Ephesians 6:12 to be actively worked through us! We are misleading them, singing the same song Satan sings over them: shoot for the stars, go after what your heart desires, you are king. The Word of God tells us”The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick;” (Jeremiah 17:9) yet we teach them daily to follow their hearts… What are we doing?!

The book of Ephesians is written to believers. Therefore it stands to reason that this truth we find in chapter 6 is applicable to believers who are following God’s instruction!

God is moving in our Church. He is breaking down walls and freeing people from the offensive attacks of Satan. As we begin to pull on the robe of our Lord, petitioning for change He has cried out BE ON THE OFFENSIVE! No longer will we sit back and withstand the attacks of Satan, being pushed deeper into the mire, misled and losing hope. Instead we are resting in Ephesians 6:12 knowing that we are at war with the spiritual powers of this Earth which are misleading us and others. We stand in unity knowing that we are not at war with each other, we are not at odds with those who are speaking in ways that may not align with what we believe. We stand as a unified force marching towards the enemy with the power of the Armor of God found in this chapter (Ephesians 6). We are going to offensively work towards training our Children in the truth that our future generation of soldiers is even more zealous and on fire than we are!
