11 So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh. 12 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites 13 and worked them ruthlessly. 14 They made their lives bitter with harsh labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their harsh labor the Egyptians worked them ruthlessly.
“12 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread.” Many of you communicate with me throughout the week, but mostly don’t speak with others in the congregation. I want to encourage you today in this: the Church is growing. Not only is our small church growing but other churches. Now I am not talking about mega churches that are doing the grand illusion of church. I am talking about The Church.
The Church is being oppressed on all sides, torn apart from fellowship, chastised for consistent truth that is unchanged by our society, and a myriad of other attacks. As this is happening people are starting to find an insatiable desire for fellowship and truth. People are realizing how flawed our recent approach was. The Church is growing!! People are seeing revival in their hearts, reconciliation is happening, the Spirit is moving and breaking down the brainwashed American mindset and it is happening THROUGH oppression. Be motivated! I am daily building new relationships with people who are seeking deeper fellowship and MORE.
Christians are finally seeing how powerless their form of Christianity is. Without fellowship and a deep walk with the Spirit we are truly not experiencing the Lord. Though we may have justification from our sins and be granted access to the Kingdom, without walking in the Spirit we are not experiencing God now. So, my day to day fellowship is finding people who are looking to grow deeper, and in turn have began a sweet fellowship through/with the Spirit.
The more WE are oppressed the more WE multiply and spread. It doesn’t look the way you thought it would. It doesn’t look like giant churches blowing up in numbers among Grass Lake. What it looks like is people across the nation seeing our passion and fellowship, then seeking to be a part of it. It looks like an underground group of people who are willing to glorify God in their day to day and be more focused on that than meeting once a week. That is where we are. We are growing, multiplying, and flourishing. The Spirit is moving among us!! 😀
What IF we stopped thinking about our own physical worship service each week and started thinking about the CHURCH as a whole and began fellowshipping online together without the fear of where people met on Sundays? To be clear: our small church isn’t looking for more people to fill our seats in our weekly worship service. We want to fellowship and grow with you all online and encourage you to encourage your pastors. Meet on Sunday where you’ve been meeting, but join us ALL online to fellowship.
If you have something you want to see added to our online database as a tool leave it in the comments below this. If you know someone who could help in writing devotions, let us know in the comments below this. We want (and are starting) to take this website and remove our “local branding” and push national unity. This is a supplement not a replacement. Let’s do it!!
Respond:
Spend 1 minute in prayer giving God thanks for helping the Church follow His mission, and not giving up on us for the years we neglected it! 🙂 Then spend 2-3 minutes praying for God to guide you in how to encourage believers and grow deeper in fellowship with one another through these unique times. Through oppression we grow, let’s allow God to show us how to grow!

After you finish that above prayer simply DO what He said to do. He speaks. If you don’t hear Him speak, keep praying. Also, I am going to start reminding you guys every day SHARE THESE! We no longer have the opportunity to grow our Sunday fellowship primarily, which is ok. These devotions have been bringing people to us in their brokenness. These devotions have been a vital tool in seeing people find reconciliation after years of brokenness. Send them out in emails, share on Facebook, tell your friends to go to the site. This has become our new “entry portal” for the church. It is no longer simply asking people to show up to a building WHICH IS GREAT! Isn’t it easier to tell people to go to GrassLake.Church? Then you don’t see if they reject you ;P However, I am also calling you to remind them and ASK them afterwards if they did. WE ARE SEEING PEOPLE COME TO THE FELLOWSHIP THROUGH THIS! These are our new source of connection somehow… I’m blown away that God is using this!!
