5 for each one should carry their own load.
Today’s may be more “scholarly” but not super dry hopefully? lol So… didn’t Paul just say a couple verses ago that we are supposed to carry each other’s loads? WELL the word there (in greek) was barē, meaning something unreasonably heavy (like carrying an elephant). The word we find here for carry (in greek) is phortion. This refers to the load a soldier would carry. The items that wouldn’t be necessarily “shared.”
We miss some things when we don’t dig deeper… When we don’t search for the author’s intent. #Hermeneutics Paul wrote that we are to help each other with the larger loads but there is a portion of our lives which are meant to be carried alone, our own sanctification. Our spiritual discipline and accountability unto the Lord is a non transferable load. You cannot count on someone else to be responsible for your own devotion to the Lord. You will only care for Him as much as you know Him.
Lord, sometimes I take the easy path and just read through verses and don’t dig deeper to see the nuggets of truth that You have prepared for me. I pray that I dig deeper and learn more about You so that I can clearly share that with others. Let me realize that my growth and accountability to You is something that I have to bare myself. Remind me that when I stand before You there will not be a scale with another human on the other side. Instead You will be waging me against what You have called ME SPECIFICALLY to. I pray that you help me obey and desire to keep in step with You so that at the Bema Seat I will be counted faithful and receive rewards beyond measure!
Today is kinda the opposite of relating lol. Let’s take the day to evaluate our lives, our spiritual discipline, our path towards being more like Christ.
