Have you ever felt like you were just overwhelmed with doubt, sin, discomfort, confusion, weakness?! Yeah, me neither… but for those people who are… I want to remind you today that the enemy wants you to be focused on those things. He wants you to be so closely looking at them that it seems like they are gigantic! The cool thing is that they are pretty big, but in a good way. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Let the enemy push you closer to focusing on your weakness, and when your face is slammed up against them open your mouth and give God glory for the opportunity you have in front of you. God is about to use YOU to bring Him glory!! He is about to display the power of Christ as His power rests upon you.
Satan loves to take the good things that are happening and make us focus on them in a negative way. Looking at them and being concerned, depressed, or otherwise downcast. I don’t think it’s necessary to try and stay away from realizing our brokenness but instead embrace them, hold them up, and watch God’s glory shine from them!! Show the world how Christ died for us and now we are slowly demonstrating how we are a new creation, having the old has passed away; behold, the new has come! (2 Corinthians 5:17) Hold up for everyone to see the sacrifice that is your life. Let them see how God is taking your natural unable self and turning it into a reflection of God!!
The enemy wants you to be shamed and scared. Yet God tells us in Hebrews 4:16 that with CONFIDENCE we can draw near to the throne of grace because in these times of need we can find mercy and grace to help us! The enemy is singing the first verse of an age old song over us: we aren’t enough, we are shattered vessels, we could never achieve what Christ did. He is right, but the refrain of that same song says Christ was enough! He has paid for all of our mistakes, has made us new, and is making us new daily.
Satan wants you to become gripped with fear and torment yourself. God wants you to embrace your weakness for that is why He chose you. Your life uniquely displays a part of God’s love that no one else’s could. Love the display God will spark within your life. God is faithful and will display Himself through you, using your weaknesses to glorify Him. Don’t give the enemy the power of convincing you to hide away your weaknesses. Put them on display for all to see so that when your God miraculously changes you people can worship alongside you. Yet, if your life never changes they can look up on you, a broken and tormented soul, and see you give God praise even through the brokenness. Your life is a unique painting of God’s glory, don’t allow the enemy to convince you to cover up the best parts. 🙂
1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Spend 1 minute in prayer thanking God for using your life to show people a relatable, powerful image of God. Then spend 2-3 minutes asking God to break down strongholds of depression, anxiety, discontentment, WHATEVER it is so that HE will be glorified. Pray not for your own sake but for the sake of His glory. Petition that God’s beautiful face be emanated from your life whatever that looks like for you.
You’ve got to be open about your life. Do not hide the flaws and hope that you will be fixed in the darkness. Perhaps God is waiting to free you from that stronghold. Perhaps He is waiting for you to open your mouth and share with your neighbor so that they too can receive that same freedom! If we keep all things hidden how will they know that our God can help them too?
