Mark 1:35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”
Life get’s overloaded, quick moving, and psychologically straining. Many of us have the natural inclination to keep running to avoid being behind. We think of everything that needs to get done and assume that we have to keep going to get there. Yet we don’t realize that we are slowly decreasing in speed, efficiency, and quality. There’s a pattern here Christ sets that most believers miss (me included).
We look at the “Sabbath rest” and see it only as “Sabbath Worship.” We miss the greater purpose and end up replacing it with Sunday Worship. We need to unplug from everything and desperately plug into the Lord. We need to stop running and sit in His presence. For me, I am finding this is an hour long thing I need to do… For when I stop running and sit in His courts I will come out running faster than before.
Let us not forsake the benefit of stopping daily/weekly and unplugging from it all so that we can actually keep running. We are to the point of walking and we think it’s in our best interest to keep the pace… when in reality what we need is a small break so that we can actually keep running at full speed.
Let us get up early in the morning and be in a solitary place where we can pray and be refilled. Don’t think of prayer as a “have to” but as a “get to”. Prayer shouldn’t be something we make ourselves do as a ritual, but something like eating, something that we need to do to maintain any sort of ability.
Spend 1 minute thanking the Lord that you can find rest in Him. Then spend 2-3 minutes asking Him how your Sabbath rest should be implemented and ask Him to guide you into not over straining your mind.
Remind 1 other person that if they spend their life running eventually the speed will turn to walking… We must stop for a time for then we can run faster. WE NEED THIS!! 🙂
