6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Many people in the Church struggle with Jesus loving them because of how they have been taught: when we sin we are separated from God. Which is true… but Jesus did something to fix that when it comes to God’s love. Jesus, when we were still rejecting Him, died for us! This means that before you ever cared for Jesus He was willing to display AGAPE love, life giving, fully committed love. Jesus could not now, or ever, care more for you than He did the day He was beaten to death and murdered for our sins.
Your sins, though they did separate you from God, no longer separates you from Jesus or His love. Jesus died to cover your sins and pour out His love on you in a NEW never-ending way. Your sins will separate you from experiencing God’s freedom in your life and will for sure receive discipline as with any faithful father. However, Jesus’ love for you is not altered or diminished when you sin. Those feelings, that Jesus doesn’t love you, are rooted in toxic relationships of your past, poor teachings, and ultimately a misunderstanding of Scripture. John 15:13 says “13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Therefore, if Christ loved you soooo much that He was willing to die for you (defined as the greatest love) then why do you think He loves you less when you make mistakes and sin again? He loved you when you were overcome with mistakes and had no desire to ever stop those mistakes.
Be encouraged today! Jesus Christ died for you when you were an enemy, therefore NOTHING you can do can separate you from the love of Christ Jesus. Romans 8 says “38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Today, this moment, right NOW, you are loved as much as you ever will be and His love towards you will not diminish ONE BIT. Jesus would give His life for you, and did. Don’t let the enemy lie to you and tell you that your mistakes will change that.
